Laney’s is currently seeking an Equipment Sandblaster/Painter/Yard Helper to join our Houston, Texas, location. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sandblasting and painting of equipment at our Houston yard location.
  • Act as general helper at the Houston yard.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

POSITION: Staff Civil/Geotechnical Engineer Laney Directional Drilling
REPORTS TO: Manager of Engineering February 2, 2016

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are excited to announce that our engineering group is continuing to grow and we are looking for a motivated individual to add to our team to tackle complex trenchless projects. As a Staff Engineer, you will work directly with the Engineering and Construction groups on trenchless design and construction projects across the United States and abroad. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Feasibility analysis and Design of Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD), Direct Pipe, and other Trenchless crossings.
  • HDD plan and profile design, pull load calculations and pipe stress analysis.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.
  • Feasibility and Design report writing for Trenchless crossings.
  • Assist in developing and managing geotechnical exploration programs.
  • Prepare hydraulic fracture and inadvertent returns analysis based on geotechnical results.
  • Prepare cost estimates for design and construction of Trenchless crossings.
  • Onsite exposure during active construction of HDDs and Direct PipeR projects.
  • Technical assistance supporting the engineering and construction groups.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited program (MS in Civil Engineering Preferred)
  • EIT Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 0-3 years of engineering experience
  • Must have good time management skills, strong work ethics, must show attention to details and a strong desire to learn.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and capability to travel in support of Laney’s engineering and construction projects
  • Valid driver’s license

POSITION: Manager of Engineering Laney Directional Drilling
REPORTS TO: -- January 15, 2016

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

To lead a trenchless engineering team at Laney that is considered the elite team of civil/geotechnical and mechanical engineers in the trenchless industry. This position will require a complete understanding of our mission statement and a belief that all accidents are preventable. This position requires the knowledge and belief that all of our SOP’s will create a better product to our clients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.  Lead Engineers in technical advancement
  •  Be the best engineer in-house and understand how to prepare and review design reports including the necessary calculations. Calculations to include the installation and operating stresses, annular pressure graphs, hydraulic fracture and inadvertent returns analyses.
  •  Research and development of annular pressure calculations to aid in making us a leader in the trenchless industry.
  •  Research and development of existing and new technologies with all vendors.
  •  To be billable approximately 50% of the time on engineering projects, and the remainder of time assisting the construction group re-engineer, write installation plans, and other supporting roles requiring engineering assistance. 

2. Business Development

  •  Prepare engineering proposals for trenchless design work.
  •  Assist in preparing and presenting lunch and learn discussions on trenchless engineering and construction projects.
  •  Assist in growing the engineering business to a $3M dollar business unit within the next 3 years.

3. Standard Operating Procedures

  •  Responsible for all SOP's regarding engineering.
  •  Quarterly audits of our engineering and CAD personnel to determine if they are adhering to all engineering SOP's
  •  Annual update and revisions to all engineering SOP's

4. Training

  •  Responsible for training all Laney engineers to make sure they meet the minimum standards for the level of compensation
  •  Attending key industry conferences and making sure we present at least one paper per year.
  • Obtaining necessary PDH’s to maintain licensure.

5.  General and Administrative

  •  Perform annual review of the engineers and their competency level.
  •  Review weekly timesheets for accuracy.
  •  Attend weekly staff meetings, if available.
  •  Lead weekly engineering and CAD meeting.
  •  Assist in the bidding process for complex construction projects.
  •  Assist in preparing monthly invoices for all engineering projects.
  •  Assist in preparing job set-up forms on engineering projects.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • Background in pipeline and construction
  • 7-10 years of engineering experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Willingness and capability to travel in support of Laney’s engineering and construction projects
  • Must have good time management skills, strong work ethics, must show attention to details
